Materials Used:

I really liked the balaclava/knit trend that was going on a few years ago (still going on) and wanted to try to make one for myself. I was on Youtube shorts and was recommended Cosmaudi's Channel . I was really looking for crochet that mimicked knitting and i foundddd itttttt.

Materials used include:

• Crochet yarn Acrylic or wool (yes i’ve used acrylic here. i just didn’t like the look or feel of wool here, i will not make it a habit)

• Drops Kid Silk or Drops Brushed Alpaca (2 Skeins) i like the texture it gives (I prefer drops kid silk)

• 24/7 cotton yarn ( for the i-cord)

Use stitch Markers to connect the ribbing to the hood piece

Once the ribbing and the hood are connected ^^

Crochet Knit Hood

I could have stopped at this point because it looks soooo good and sits soooo nicely but i decided to go for the gold 🏅🏅🏅

Another view but look the back seam of the bottom rib is not perfectly centered :(

I crochet the hood ribbing next, too tight (due to a smaller crochet hook used) but i refuse to re-do it.

Ribbing for the hood of the piece

I sewed down the ribbing to the hood like so and voila.

My Problems:

1. I’m trying to figure out what kind of lining to attach to the inside of the hood. I want something colorful but not too much since I need to be able to wash it without much incident of stains staying on the material.

2. The hood rib is too chunk. I tried to use a smaller crochet hook to see how it would come out and I don’t love it?

3. Also my tension was a little tight so the hood doesn’t have as much give as I would like? Maybe it will relax over time?

4. Should I block it? (Blocking relaxes the material and straightens the stitches.) Stay tuned… I may include an update in a future post.
